Grade 7 - Grade 8

The Mathematics program encourages students to develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills and make connections between mathematics and its applications. The Coding component will help them solve problems and create computational representations


Math

Our Language Arts curriculum at this level is focused on oral communications, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, grammar, and creative writing.

Students are exposed to a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts and literature intended to deepen their command of the English language, and ultimately become communicators and leaders of the future. 


Language Arts

Our science program develops depth in a students’ scientific literacy and enables them to acquire the science-related knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to solve problems and make decisions.


Science

HISTORY:  The program focuses on a comprehensive view of the development of Canada. Additionally, students explore several concepts connected to the citizenship education framework.


Social Studies

The Geography curriculum focuses on the geographic inquiry process. Students are encouraged to apply critical thinking in their investigations of issues, events, developments, and geographic phenomena. 


Arabic

Our French curriculum is a continuation of the elementary studies. The instruction is focused on enhancing students’ abilities.

Quran

Islamic Studies

 Students continue to cultivate a strong understanding of the Arabic language including building fluency in reading, writing, and conversation. Through intentional learning during their early year’s students can effectively adopt Arabic as a second or third language.  


Our Quran curriculum beings with strengthening our students command of the Arabic language, and includes the memorization of longer surahs, learning the meaning of Quranic words, and understanding the rules and application of Tajweed.

The aim of our physical education program is to enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle, while building the spirit of sportsmanship, collaboration and teamwork. Students participate in several intramural and extra-curricular sports activities thereby developing the ability to work with others.

The Computer Studies curriculum introduces foundational concepts of computing and technology. At this stage students are taught the use of Microsoft Office, keyboarding, coding, and digital content creation.

 

Arabic is an important component of the Muslim identity, and our curriculum builds upon the foundational teaching of our elementary program.



Our art education is concerned with the organization of visual material. Students are guided to record visual information and discoveries by using a variety of materials, media and techniques, compositional elements, and finally use the vocabulary of art criticism to build a narrative around their art work.
